Wiê¼ is a monthly Catholic intellectual review that has been published in Warsaw since 1958. Its founder and, for many years, its editor-in-chief was Tadeusz Mazowiecki, who later-following the victory of Solidarno¶æ in 1989-became the first non-communist Prime Minister of Poland after World War II.

The monthly review is an important and interesting publication not only for Catholics, but also for many other readers as well. Wiê¼ deals with issues of crucial significance: themes that arise at the crossroads of religion, culture, society and politics. Its main goal is the deepening of Polish Catholicism in the spirit of Vatican II, with the Church understood as a community and open to the contemporary world.

The name of the monthly ("The Bond") is a part of its program. Wiê¼ wants to serve reconciliation and the overcoming of stereotypes: between Poles and Jews, Germans, Russians, and Ukrainians; between Christians of different denominations; between Catholics and Jews, members of non-Christian religions, and non-believers.

The relations between Christianity and Judaism and between Poles and Jews have always been of significant interest for Wiê¼. In 1998, the monthly review published a special English language issue, Under One Heaven: Poles and Jews. It consisted of the most important texts on these matters published in Wiê¼ throughout its history.

In 2000, the same special issue was published also in German as Polen und Juden: gemeinsam unter einem Himmel. It discusses the most difficult issues of Polish-Jewish and Christian-Jewish relations in the spirit of truth and reconciliation.
